A New Relationship With Fear

For most of my life, I have felt fear and anxiety and just powered through it.

I adopted the Nike mentality of Just Do It.

And it worked, at least outwardly.

I always do what I set out to do.

And I’ve reached high levels of success in many areas of life.

But what about my inner experience?

** Note: It wasn’t even until 2019 that I learned I had any influence and control over my inner experience! If that sounds familiar, I get it. **

So my inner experience? It was often anxiety-filled, stressful, and difficult even though on the outside everything looked great.

And this took a toll on me physically, mentally, emotionally and in my relationships as well.

Coaching is what helped me shift this.

I used to be a big advocate of “Feel the fear and do it anyway.”

However, today, that is no longer my mantra.

Now I feel the fear … and slow down.

Because inside every fear is an opportunity.

An opportunity to grow, learn and transform - in big and small ways.

This is the heart and soul of my upcoming Into the World Challenge, which starts October 11, 2023.

Inside this challenge you’ll have the opportunity to:

✅ Discover what medicine your fears hold for you

✅ Create more ease, joy, and fun as you go for your dreams

✅ Get Into the World (whatever that means for you at this time in life).

You can learn more HERE.

Into the World and Back on the Court

A week ago, I gave my first Athlete Mindset Mastery workshop to over 400 student-athletes at Cal State Fullerton.

This was a big “Into the World” moment that was 8-months in the making and included a last-minute cancellation and reschedule due to Hurricane Hilary.

And my inner experience and relationship with fear (and myself) before, during, and after the event was unlike all my past achievements.

🌟 Instead of force, there was flow.

🌟 Instead of worry, there was trust.

🌟 Instead of trying to get over or eliminate fear, there was softening, curiosity, and a new game to play using the fears.

An hour before the event, I knew deep inside that no matter what occurred on the stage, I had already “won” because of my three P's: Purpose, Process, and Perseverance.

We'll dive into this more inside the Challenge, but here's a taster.

Purpose:
Am I connected to my purpose? Am I on the court creating my goals and dreams?

Process:
How am I treating myself during the process? Am I on my own side lifting myself up or am I against myself tearing myself down? How am I celebrating myself throughout the process?

Perseverance:
Am I being resilient or am I giving up when things get hard?

This workshop was me living my purpose. When I read about multiple DI female athletes committing suicide in early 2022, I decided I couldn't sit on the sidelines. I had to get back on the court and bring the message of mental toughness and mindset mastery to today's athletes.

Even though my coaching business was in a great place and expanding, my heart was called to serve in this way. We can't lose when we're in alignment with our purpose. Are you living your true purpose now?

And after a slightly bumpy creative start, 90% of my process was fun and full of enthusiasm, learning and lots of celebration along the way. I didn't wait for a good outcome to tell me I was good. I created goodness along the way. I'll show you how in the Challenge.

Did everything go my way? Nope! I heard No, I was ghosted, things felt tricky, and my keynote was canceled at the last minute after I flew across the country for it. But I didn't give up. I persevered. Anyone can have a dream. But staying committed and seeing it through deserves huge applause. You'll get lots of that and more in the Challenge.

Imagine what it would be like to feel so on purpose and connected with your vision that taking action feels as natural as tying your shoes. That is possible in this Challenge.

Do you know what else is possible?

❤️ Being with yourself and your fears differently so that the entire process of being Into the World feels lighter and gentler with a side of fun and play.

❤️ Taking more action in four weeks than you have all year. Yep! Read that again.

❤️ No longer using external results to determine your worth.

❤️ Creating a new type of game plan that is for you, your growth and transformation.

Guess what?

You don’t have to take a baseball bat and beat yourself into taking action anymore.

Instead, you can adopt the approach dolphin trainers use:

yummy fish, sweet encouraging kisses, toys, games, fun and delightful splashes of glee.

If you like the sound of that, join the challenge HERE.

Let's go coaches!

I can't wait to see you inside,

Mary

P.S. This challenge is not just for coaches. It's for anyone who wants to step Into the World more, both professionally and personally.

For some, it will be about creating clients and business networking. For others, it's about creating friendships and a new hobby.

What might being Into the World look like for you?
